How to check your credit card eligibility?

  • Visit the official website of the bank you'll be taking the card from.
  • Enter your name, income proof, and PAN number.
  • The details that you provide are tied to your CIBIL score
  • Also mention whether you are salaried or self-employed if there are any existing credit cards that you have, etc.

Your CIBIL score is a result of your credit history. It ranges between 300-900 and the higher it is, the more likely you are to get a credit card. A strong CIBIL score is based on your income, timely bill payments, less debt, and more income validating factors.

What's a CIBIL score and why should you care?

If you want to get a credit card but don't have a credit card yet - you can't try your luck with a prepaid credit card, a secured credit card, or an add-on card.

This way you can start building your credit score and shift to a regular credit card.

Can you still get a credit card without a credit score?

What's the bare minimum you'd need to make the cut?

Broadly speaking, you need to earn at least ₹1 lakh per annum to qualify for a credit card. If you are self-employed, then you might need to show a higher bank balance more consistently than if you are on a company payroll before your application gets approved!
